Week 5: Golden Habits Challenge

Habit: 15 minutes of mobility per day

Week 5 already?? Time is flying! This week we are focusing on mobility—your habit will be to practice at least 15 minutes of mobility each day.  Mobility practice can be stretching, foam rolling, yoga, etc… If you need some direction on what to do, YouTube and Google have countless free videos you can use as guidance—simply search “full body stretch”, “15-minute yoga”, “full body mobility”, you get the idea. As the week progresses, you can target certain areas of the body as well by including keywords like “shoulders”, “hips”, “low back” into your searches. 

I am sure we all know how important mobility is, but even so, we tend to not prioritize it as much as we prioritize getting in our exercise sessions for the week.  If you are exercising, then you should absolutely be incorporating mobility into your fitness routine! Stretching, foam rolling, and yoga can help our bodies recover quicker, decrease muscle soreness, decrease risk of injury, improve range of motion which will give us better technique and better performance in the gym. It’s also an amazing stress-reducer and so good for our mental health.

Did you know CrossFit Mobile has yoga classes during the week?? If you haven’t gone to Julie’s yoga classes—now is the time to check it out! Sign up through Zen Planner, she offers classes three times a week: Wednesday mornings at 6 AM, Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM, and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM.
