Habit: read 10 pages or journal 250 words
We have made it halfway through our Golden Habits Challenge! Congrats on all of the hard work you have been putting in these past few weeks. This week’s habit is to read 10 pages OR to journal 250 words every day (or night). This habit will help you create some quiet time for yourself and can be very helpful to manage stress in the long-run.
Reading can serve so many purposes—we can use it to quiet the mind and escape into a world of fiction where our current stressors do not exist. We can also use it to learn something new—daily learning can keep our brains sharp and functioning properly, it can even improve things like memory! Reading is a fantastic habit to replace screen time before bed, and can help us fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

Writing or journaling is another great tool to quiet the mind and can allow us to turn a little more introspective. The simple act of writing down something that is stressing you out can have a huge impact on decreasing your stress levels—think of it like you are letting it go, it no longer needs to take up space in your head because you are setting it free to paper. Writing can also be a wonderful place to allow your creativity to flow free, or a place to practice gratitude by listing all of the positive things that happened in your day. Don’t know where to start? Grab a pen and paper and just write whatever comes to mind—literally, jot down every word that enters your brain until you find a path to your thoughts; or start by simply recounting the day you had, noting any thoughts and feelings that may come up as you write about the events of your day.
Cheers to reducing stress!!
All the best,
